When i first bought a building here i was a little worried about things. So the first thing i did was get insurance. I went to the Raiffeisen Bank and their partner for mortgages was UNIQA, even though i don't have a loan with any bank for the building. I guess they saw me coming, i thought i was getting a good deal. Yet in reality, i could get the building insured for 20 times the amount (that is the cost of re-build) of the insurance from another company. To top it off, when i canceled the insurance company, they kept on billing me, yet to the wrong address, said i needed 3 months to cancel it. When i questioned their authority to send me the debt, they sold the debt to another company. According to UNIQA insurance they will cover you for your insurance even if your premium is not paid, yet not if you read the fine print, you will find that its not true. In the fine print of their contract they say that they do not have to pay out, if your insurance premium is not paid up. So is that not such a sweet deal for the insurance company, they love it when you don't pay. i guess the judges own the execution companies. So this was my welcome gift to the world of insurance in the Czech Republic.
